So it is evident that a person needs to dress appropriately in an interview to secure a job opportunity. Most people usually get it wrong when it comes to dressing for an interview. Here below are some of the tips and guidelines on how to dress for an interview to make a lasting impression.

 

Dress One or Two Levels Up

While most people have always maintained the notion that suits are the best option for an interview, it should be noted that there are circumstances where a suit can degrade your appearance. You should do a research on the dressing code of the company or organization and just dress one or two levels up.

 

 

Neatness is Key

Neatness is essential when dressing up for an interview. It is important for an interviewee to prepare the clothes in advance to avoid a last minute rush. The clothes should be well ironed to bring out the sharp element in a person.

 

 

Do Not Wear Flashy Jewelry

While jewelry has an additional value in making an individual look presentable; it should be noted that excess jewelry do not work well in an interview situation. This mostly goes for the ladies who are fond of putting on flashy jewelry. Just forgo them for the few minutes or so in an interview.

 

 

Wear Clothes with Solid Colors

You should put on dresses that have solid colors rather than the ones with loud and busy prints on them. This make you look professional. Not unless you are going for a Google interview, you should maintain a solid color for your dressing.

 

 

Matching the Belt with Shoes

When you tie a black belt, ensure that you have black shoes to complement the belt. It is important to match the belt with the shoes’ color.

 

 

Only wear Fitting Clothing

When going for an interview, it is advised that your wear a fitting clothing. Your clothes should not be too loose or too tight to make you uncomfortable during the interview.
